LWV of Dalton Picnic & Auction. Anticipating a lot of interest in the primary election in Georgia on May 20, the LWV will have an indoor picnic (and auction) on Thursday evening, May 1, at 6:00 p.m. at the Senior Center on Cappes Street.

Members should plan to bring a covered dish and dessert as well as one soda beverage to share. The meat dish and paper products are to be contribution of the League. Suggestions are cole slaw, baked beans, potato salad, potato chips, cookies, cakes, or any other easy-to-serve food items.

On Sunday, August 17, from 3-5 p.m., LWVAF members and partner organizations are invited to our Membership Recruitment, Program Announcement and Volunteer sign-up at Manuel's Tavern, at the corner of North and Highland Avenues, Atlanta 30306.

Members and anyone wanting to learn about membership are invited for snacks, trivia and networking. Stop by or stay, parking is free. Cash bar. LWVAF leaders will be on hand to answer questions about activities related to voter services, voter registration, and voter education on various topics.

Western Sizzilin restaurant in Dalton LWV of Dalton August Meeting. Jim Hawkins and Assistant Superintendent Caroline Woodason will be the speakers at Western Sizzlin Restaurant on Tuesday, August 19. Ms. Woodason supervises Support Services for the school system and she is in charge of the English Language Learners program. Her direct involvement includes the curriculum at the Morris Street Innovative School, and she can report to us about the plans for the recent adolescent immigrants.

Plan to attend the LWV of Dalton August meeting and bring a friend to the Western Sizzlin Restaurant. A public notice is being put in the media. If you have friends and neighbors worried about the impact of these new young people in our community, this would be a good time to bring them as guests.

Plan to be at the restaurant around ll: 30 a.m. in order to be in the food line well before the crowd. Hopefully all will be seated when the speakers are introduced.

The 8th Annual Women's History Month Commemoration will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016. Each year the event celebrates the legacy of innovation and leadership among women who work and/or live in Cobb County. This year's panel will feature Women in the Arts. The event is free, open to the public, and includes breakfast at 9:30 AM to be followed by our panelists from 10-Noon. It will be held at Kennesaw State University Marietta Campus (formerly Southern Polytechnic) at 1100 South Marietta Pkwy Marietta 30060 in the ballrooms at the Joe Mack Wilson Student Center. Parking is free and available in lots P35 and P36. Reservations are required at community.kennesaw.edu/reservation or call 470-578-6333. Seating is limited and seats are going fast!
